Agile Version Report gadget error: "An internal server error occurred when requesting resource"

I'm unable to use the Agile Version Report gadget. The gadget itself displays the following error:Screen Shot 2016-06-08 at 14.06.57.png

And here's what's logged in catalina.out:

I'm running JIRA behind HAProxy with SAML authentication through Okta (if that matters). Any ideas?

what version of Jira/JIRA Software are you running? I have the same problem with this plugin. Running JIRA 7.0.x over https and get the same error. All other gadgets work properly which makes me think it's a bug and not an ssl issue. @Nic Brough [Adaptavist] / @Nic Brough or anyone from Atlassian have any ideas on this one?
