I used automation to send issue's data to an external system with a click on a transition button. The issue changes state when its fields are passed to external system but should not change state if the web call fails.

In order to do so I created a post function script in groovy. If it succeeds it does nothing but if it fails it will transit issue to the original state.

In practice it works fine. Except for when the script crashes for any reason. In this case the code to revert the issue won't execute and it makes the failed issue to land on the new status as it was successful.

Please share your ideas for a better design and or how to solve the issue.
