how to add a field to the history searches?

when I run some filters using new fields I keep getting 

History searches do not support the 'XX' field.

Welcome to the community. 

Here you can find the supported fields for the was Operator. 

You can not use the operator with other fields.

It requires the indexing and search code in the background to support that type of field.  As yet, the core code doesn't support custom fields and only some of the system fields.

I'm afraid to make it work, you'd need to code for it in the core of Jira.

Hello,

You can not add a custom field to history searches. Only  the Assignee, Fix Version, Priority, Reporter, Resolution, and Status fields support this functionality.
