I have to map a custom field to my kanban board. Is this possible? I have checked this Atlassian https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWSERVER-6838 but it hasn't worked. If it is working please let me know how to do it?
No.
A board is supposed to represent a pile of issues as they move through the workflow. Given that, it would be nonsense to use anything other than the actual status for the column definitions.
If you want "boards" that are not really boards, but give you a good grid view based on non-status/process fields, I would look to Comala Canvas matrix view
