Check for pre-existing duplicate links in the issue (on resolve)

We have a number of users that may submit a card for the same issue.  Is there a way (outside of using epics) to roll-up these cards into a single card so that when the parent card is moved, all the subcards would be moved as well? I would think it would look something like a parent task and sub tasks but where the parent has the primary control.

For example, if I have cards 1-5 and card 1 is my parent issue, I would associate cards 2-5 as duplicates of card one.  Then when I move card 1 to QA in the workflow, it would automatically change the status of the other cards as well?

This is only possible with custom code of some variety. Are you on JIRA Server or JIRA Cloud? Do you have a scripting add-on or no?
