Any way to plug the Jira RSS feed into syslog?

We'd like to be able to log JIRA issue updates to a central syslog facility. Anyone know of a plugin to do this? I started messing around with python to send the RSS feed to syslog but parsing the RSS feed turned into a bit of a hack. Wondering if there's an alternative or plugin I haven't found?
