Are tags always assigned the same color, can they pre-populate already created tags just like labels

Hello All,

I wanted to know if tags that are created in align are always assigned to same color? or how do the colors get assigned?

And, can tags be prepopulated just like labels in Jira?

Currently TAGS in Jira Align are assigned a random color by TAG.  The same TAG such as "API" would be the same color throughout the system, but you cannot assign or define tag colors.  There was a bug some time ago where the same TAG could have random colors, but that was fixed in https://help.jiraalign.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034247553-Release-Notes-for-10-52

What field determines the color assignment?  If it's truly random, it would explain why several tags we've created to differentiate some things are the same color.  How can we avoid that?  It kind of defeats the purpose of using them for visual identification.
