The Jira Align tool can be used by a scrum master to plan sprint goals with available team members. It helps in determining the scope, roadmaps and dependencies across teams.

Jira tool can be used by the development team for work execution which then can be synced to Jira Align.

A common use case is where Jira Align is used by the product team for feature prioritization and Jira is used by development team for executing the features. The tasks from Jira Align synchronize to Jira as features which are further broken down as user stories. Along with the user stories, the estimated effort hours and other details populated by the development team also synchronize to Jira Align. This gives the product management team real-time visibility into the development work. As a result, they can plan the iterations better and know whether the project is on track or not.

Getting all the historical and current data with full context in the user preferred system in real time is also very important.
