A list of current sessions can be found by navigating to the web interface, selecting the EDIT PROFILE button and then selecting CHAT SESSIONS on the left sidebar. Alternatively, you can enter the web address directly: https://<FQDN>/account/sessions
You will see that warning whenever 10 sessions have been reached for the user account. On newer versions (HCS v1.3+) there is a cron job that runs nightly and cleans up any stale sessions and any 'disconnected' device sessions should timeout after 3 minutes or so.
If you are running across this error often and you don't have 10 sessions listed in the CHAT SESSIONS page, then please reach out to support at support.atlassian.com so we can assist. If possible, please attach the Server side logs (using hipchat diagnostics -b in the console) to the support ticket.
