Hello @goto yoshihiko, were you using the IME as your input method before? We didn't change the way the chat input box behaved in v.2.2.1397. We are, however, working on better IME support with the 4.0 client.

Also, @goto yoshihiko and @tomoe ookuma do you think you could attach a video of the issue? I want to make sure we understand the problem correctly and are working on the issue you described.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have same problem. This problem significantly affects text typing efficiency for all Japanese users.

Repro step is:
1. type Japanese base text by alphabet. In the video, I typed "fuguai". "fuguai" is incrementally converted to Japanese Hiragana "ふぐあい"
2. hit space key to convert "ふぐあい" to Kanji "不具合".
3. hit next Japanese base text ("hassei":はっせい), at this timing, in normal case, "不具合" is fixed from conversion candidate to fixed text, but "不具合" disappeared in new version Hipchat.

Workaround is to hit enter key between step 2 and 3. Enter key explicitly fixes conversion candidate, however, most of IME users skip this when we still have input strings.

Thanks,

Takamitsu
