Using HipChat URL scheme with multiple team accounts

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: How to use the HipChat URL scheme

I use HipChat on Mac. I am a member of multiple teams. I noticed that the URL scheme for linking to a room, only works for my first team account. It does not work for links to rooms in my other team accounts.

Is there a solution?

While the documentation doesn't currently specify this, the HipChat URI scheme actually works like so:

  • User / 1-1 conversation
    • hipchat://[fqdn]/user/[user_id_mention_or_email]
  • Room
    • hipchat://[fqdn]/room/[room_id_or_display_name]
  • Lobby
    • hipchat://[fqdn]/lobby

Where fqdn is your fully qualified HipChat domain name. So, for Atlassian, that would be atlassian.hipchat.com.
