Use of HTTPS instead of HTTP betwenn the reverse-proxy and the server (small-scale)?

We are dictated to use https everywhere it is possible in our infrastucture. But in the "Reverse proxy configuration"(small scale) there it says the proxy must be configured to forward traffic from port 443 to port 80.
So is it possible to use only https instead?

Hi Bjoern,

Nginx on the Hipchat nodes is only listening on port 80. The reverse proxy/load balancer should be terminating SSL so the nodes so they can skip the SSL part themselves and focus on chat functionality.

While it may be possible to do an SSL pass-through and have the nodes listen on 443, it renders your setup unsupported.

Thanks for your helpful answer. We'll try it on a test-system.
