Unread Message Notifications on Signin - HipChat

Hi,

 We are attempting to migrate our team from skype to HipChat and the major issue seems to be the lack of an "unread message" / "notification" icon on the sidebar upon login that tells you which chats have messages.

 Is there a way to configure this? As currently upon signing people have to click on lots of chats individually to see updates.
