Seeing this using the latest HipChat windows client () running against HipChat cloud.
It sounds like you might have encountered a bug with the Windows client. I'd recommend contacting our support folks at email@example.com and they should be able to point to any existing issues or file a bug with the dev and help collect any pertinent info that might help in tracking down the problem.
