Loging in on two Servers at the same time with Hipchat

Chris Westerfield February 3, 2015

Hi,

I would need to login on two different Instances with Hipchat.

One is hostet by my own Company, the other one is hostet by a contractor.

I need to be online on both.

How do I solve this without an overhead amount of work on each restart.

This is one of HipChat's top feature request, and according to them it's a feature they are tackling (or rather, "under consideration" with 12k votes).

The official workaround for now is...

Once you have multiple accounts, you can sign in to each one using a different application. Your options are:

  • Our desktop apps
  • Our web app, perhaps through a site-specific browser like Fluid (Mac), or Mozilla Prism (Windows, Mac, Linux)
  • Another chat client with XMPP support

Yep - we are actively working on this issue and hope to get it out to you guys as soon as possible. In the meanwhile Boots has it right, using two applications is the best option for now. My personal preference is to sign into one account with the Mac native client and another via the web at https://hipchat.com/chat

Well I need almost all features on both.

(Video Calls, Team Chat, File Sharing (Secured), Project Documents that are stored inside the hipchat instances, team chat.

So I'm either limited to using the web client and native client or live without it.

(What is actually no solution)
