It sounds like your issue might be similar to this issue that has come up before logging into the macOS client: https://confluence.atlassian.com/hipchatkb/hipchat-mac-client-4-0-login-constantly-loops-827120987.html. I'd suggest doing something similar to the resolutions there: try clearing cookies/browser cache data and updating the cookie preferences in Safari, then checking to see if login works as expected.
