Is there end to end encryption?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Security of HipChat

Is there end-to-end encryption on hipchat (security of hosting)?

Hello Laurent,

HipChat encrypts the messages during the transmission to the AWS server as described here. As far as we know, there isn't any options to change the encryption type used for trasmission or storage.

A good option for you will be to opt in to the HipChat Server beta program where the local admins can store the message data anyway they choose on a local machine. You can sign up for the HipChat Server beta here.
