In older versions of HipChat, /quote would format a message using a fixed-width font (sort of like <pre> tag in HTML). In newer versions, /quote is a blockquote. Is there a way to send preformatted text without syntax highlighting?
For some things, like compiler output or log output or ASCII art, /code isn't appropriate, because the highlighting doesn't make sense, and /quote doesn't work, because the variable-width font messes up the output.
HipChat doesn't currently have an option to show preformatted text without syntax highlighting, but it is something we've considered adding. There have been a number of times I've wanted such a thing myself. I'll see if I can't get it added to an upcoming release
