I desperately need to create groups for the "People" section. Is this possible?

I was really hoping the Hipchat had a feature where I could create categories for the "People" that I normally chat with. And Lets not stop at just "People"; lets also add the ability to create categories for rooms. It would be much for organizational to have this functionality.

While this was brought up before to the team's attention, they have announced the discontinuation of HipChat Cloud & Stride as per the following Suggestion:

• HCPUB-346: Allow users to group People under the left sidebar, or allow admins to form teams

Unless if you are using HipChat Server / Data Center, I would recommend you to check on Slack and its migration path as mentioned in the article Stride and Hipchat Cloud End of Life: Just over 90 days away
