Hi Robin,
How long the history of every room and 1:1 chat is kept depends on a setting called 'History Retention'. By default, the retention is 'forever', but your group admin can change this to different values via the Group settings UI. More information on this is available at https://confluence.atlassian.com/hc/managing-your-group-693896516.html on the 'Setting Chat History Retention' section.
