How I can know about 1-1 message or opens user profile

I need opportunity to know that one user opened talk with another user or already start talking. Then I`ll check user 2 in our intranet system is he available today to talk.
If he is not available, I will send notification to user 1 about it.

But I didn`t find the way how to do it, could you help me and give the right way?

HipChat doesn't currently have an API or event to indicate someone opening a chat with another user. However, assuming both of them are using HipChat, the client should automatically detect presence and update appropriately to away or available based on the the amount of time their workstation has been idle.

There are also APIs to set user presence directly (update user API). It would be possible to use that API to update the presence from your local intranet system (although you would need a separate API token for each user who you want to update or install it as a HipChat Addon.
