We have created a room for our executive team to use, as a secure chat room to allow constant discussion between the managers of our various offices. However, members do not receive notifications, neither on their phone nor web app nor computer app, when a message is received in the private room. Is there a way to fix this?
Otherwise, HipChat is quite useless to us; it then functions more as a blog to browse through when you have time rather than an active chat room that alerts you to vital discussions.
If there is no means to fixing this notification setting, is there an alternative to HipChat within the Atlassian suite that allows this functionality?
Regards,
Olivia
Thanks Daniel, I have contacted the support team and all is sorted now.
Hi Olivia,
Have you followed the instructions for notification settings on this page? https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/HIPCHAT/Get+and+set+notifications
When using the web client, you'll need to be sure to enable desktop notifications. You should get a prompt from HipChat and then your web browser asking you to allow desktop notifications. The settings for mobile notifications can be configured on your phone.
If they still aren't working for you after reviewing these instructions, please reach out to our support team at help.hipchat.com.
