Hipchat Server Security

Hello.

Anyone know how security is HipChat Server? The conversations are stored with some kind of encryption? or may be it visible to the HipChat admin?.

The Ondemand version uses Amazon's security policies, but there is no information for the hosted version.

Thanks

Hi Miguel,

The beauty of HipChat Server is that it's run locally, on your machine using your security policies. So effectively, the local admins have control over how the messages are stored on rest and control that entirely. HipChat Server is just the tool used to transfer the messages from client to host back to client.

In addition, there isn't any info on it (still) because it's in private beta for testing. I would imagine that the doc's will evolve as HipChat Server comes closer to release. Right now, there are a handful of doc's relating to HipChat Server that you can view here:
