Hi All,
We have a self-hosted HipChat server and whenever the admin is offline/idle, 1-1 messages between other users are sent to the admin as offline notification emails.
Is there a way to stop this?
TIA,
Vlad
Hi Will,
I should clarify it a bit more. It turns out that it is only one user that has the issue. When ever someone has a 1-1 chat with this user and the admin is idle or offline, the admins gets emails containing the private chat, but only one way. That is, only ones from others to this user and never the other way. The emails the admin sees has the following details, say from user1 sends a message to user2 while the admin is away:
From: admin@..........
To: <user2>
Subject: <user1> sent you a 1-1 message
Body: <user1> just sent you a 1-1 message but you're idle:
<user1> message details.......
Nothing in user1's or user2's stands out as being obviously configured wrong.
TIA,
Vlad

Solved. Had a misspelt email address in the configuration so HipChat sent it to the admins instead.
Ah great that you found the issue! Cheers

Hi Vlad,
Well those notifications are working as designed.
Why are users 1:1 messaging the admin account? Can you update its email address or rename the account?
There is no way to disable notifications in this context.
