The default email notifications will only be sent out according to your status (offline / away / idle) for the scenarios listed in /account/notifications page. Is there any specific reason as to why you still want to receive emails though being online? Is it for some sort of reference / audit purposes when you are @mentioned? Just to understand your use case better.
