HipChat for CentOS/RHEL

Is HipChat available other than as a VM appliance (e.g. packaged similar to JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, etc)?

Unfortunately at this time, no. You can see an issue on the Atlassian JIRA here for creating a standalaone installer, and vote/watch it to see if this changes in the future.

As an addition to James answer, we've detailed why we choose the virtualized environment over a stand-alone installer package for HipChat Serve in this FAQ: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/HC/HipChat+Server+FAQ

If you can run virtualbox or a VMware product on your RHEL install then you can load up the existing appliance image. Apologies for the inconvenience.
