HipChat Server integration with Confluence/Jira

Christian Miszczak May 24, 2016

I have difficulties integrating our HipChat server with either Confluence or Jira.

Our HipChat Production server is running version 1.3 build 1.3.7 (2015.11.18.233457);

Our Confluence Production server is version 5.8.15 and using HipChat plugins set version 6.24.0;

Our Jira Production server is version 6.3.12 and using HipChat plugins set version 6.29.2.

We are using LDAP integration.

Our http address are redirect over https.

while linking HipChat and Confluence, I am having error message such as :

    Error encountered creating your hipchat link

    Something went wrong integrating Confluence and HipChat. We probably had trouble connecting to

    the HipChat server. Check that the connection between your server and HipChat is working correctly and try again.

    Try uninstalling the existing integration from HipChat before trying again.

Is it something related to SSL configuration ?

we have near 500 users and don't want to bring them down.

Is there a clear step by step approach ?

thanks,

Christian.

Hi Christian,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble connecting JIRA and Confluence to your HipChat server instance. I think the best way forward is to raise a HipChat issue at https://support.atlassian.com/projects/HCP.

Things to consider:

  • reachability of the servers in both directions: JIRA/Confluence -> HipChat and HipChat -> JIRA/Confluence
  • look for error messages in your browser console
  • look for error messages in the JIRA/Confluence/HipChat logs

Hope this helps.
