I was under the impression that HipChat was installed on top of or part of an existing Confluence instance. I see in the technical details page that for a small server instance, two boxes are required as well as a reverse proxy. Can someone help me understand that? Previously I had used HipChat after logging into a Confluence instance and it was a web-based chat window from within Confluence.
Hi Ross,
HipChat is a different Atlassian product altogether shipped with integration capabilities with your Confluence instance. There's an option to open up a Chat instance from within Confluence, however, that still requires that you have a HipChat Account in order to proceed.
Hope this helps! :)
