HTML message was not rendered in HipChat email notification

Hey all! I am using the HipChat api to send messages to people. While the personal message looks great with HTML format, the related email notification is just plain text in Outlook (For comparison, the JIRA notification is normal). Is there anything I did not notice? Here is part of my code:

message_data = {
    'message_format': 'html',
    'message': \
      'There is a new opened PR.<br>' \
      'It was opened by %s on %s, see <a href="%s">(%s/%s) Pull Request %s</a>.<br>' \
      % (pr_author, timestamp, pr_url, pr_project, pr_repo, pr_id) \
    ,'notify':'true' }

But I got this notification in email:

There is a new opened PR.<br />It was opened by Mike on Tue Feb 21 12:14:53 PST 2017, see <a href="xxxxxx">(project/repo) Pull Request 145</a>.

Hi Zhipeng - from what I can tell the parameters you used look fine. It sounds like there might be an issue with the way HTML-based API messages are rendered in emails. I'd recommend contacting our support team at support@hipchat.com and they can get an issue filed for you in JIRA.
