We host online events for our clients and contact designated agents via chat to provide tech assistance during the event. We are experimenting with using the Web version of HipChat to facilitate this communication. We are wondering if it Is possible to engage the client using the application (instead of the Web version) when the client does not have a HipChat account? Would our account alone suffice?
Unfortunately, this is not possible. There's no way to get past the login screen.
Further, the documentation explicitly states that only the web client is supported.
When you turn on guest access in a room, HipChat generates a link that you can share with people outside your organization. Anyone who has the link will be able to join the room in their browser (they can only use the HipChat web app).
