Confluence needing internet access for hipchat integration

When I try to integrate it tells me confluence can't connect to hipchat and confluence needs internet access. Both my hipchat server and confluence server sit on the same local subnet. Any other suggestions?

Hi Jake. Can you please list the version of the Confluence Application, the HipChat Application, and the HipChat for Confluence add-on? 

I believe an issue like this occurred on a release of the HipChat for Confluence add-on, and it was fixed in a subsequent bug-fix release. If you have that version it could cause the issue.
