Cannot see private Hipchat rooms from the JIRA HipChat integration section of my project

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: JIRA system administration

I have configured JIRA Hipchat integration and confirmed the account however I'm still unable to see my private HipChat rooms. I assume I've missed a step?

Note: I'm using the JIRA cloud instance.

On the HipChat integration configuration page, when you click on the dropdown to select rooms, you should have an option at the bottom of the list to authenticate to your specific account in order to view private rooms:

Once your connect your account, you should be able to see private rooms. If you continue to have issue, you may want to contact (including the specific steps you're using and screenshots can help).

The user that JIRA was connecting-as was not an admin of the private room I wished to connect to.

Making this user a room admin, or inviting that user to the private room, solved the issue.
