Hey team,
I have a basic free account that I've been connecting to via the web app and windows client without issue.
However I've tried multiple bots (hippybot, errbot, etc.) and nothing can connect to HipChat via ports 5222 and 5223. I've tried using telnet and cannot make even a basic connection. I am not behind a firewall, telneting into 80 and 443 works without issue but nothing (bots, telnet, etc.) will connect to 5222 or 5223. Any insight as to why? Is there a limitation on free accounts that disables this functionality? I've searched high and low through the documentation and the only thing I could is https://www.hipchat.com/help/networking but it doesn't describe what to do if there is a problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
Your firewalls are either blocking you, or you have not set something up to you need to in HipChat for things to work.

Have you tried telneting to port 5222 or 5223? That will likely tell you if it's network or if it is an app configuration issue.
