Can i migrate existing data to a hosted hipchat?

Firstly - hichat has transformed how we communicate in the office. Group/project related rooms are so useful.

Also being able to link to Trello and Bitbucket - AMAZING.

We want to start paying for it, so we get the full benefits of chat history etc and are currently weighing up our options.

If we self host, can we migrate our current HipChat account to it? So any current chat logs and rooms are moved across?

Also, with a self hosted setup can I still use the android app?

Thanks in advance smile

If you self-host, you can still use iOS and Android apps! Setup of the app just takes an extra step. See this page for the full documentation, but here are the steps:

  1. Start the HipChat app.
  2. On the Login Screen, tap .
  3. Tap HipChat Server.
  4. Enter the fully qualified domain name of the HipChat Server. (For example,
  5. If HipChat Server is using a signed SSL certificate, select the Require certificate validation check box. (To find out whether this is required, check with your HipChat Server admin.)
  6. Tap OK, then sign in.
