Can files in HipChat rooms with limited history retention be configured to auto-purge?

Deleted user May 8, 2017

My team has our HipChat rooms configured with limited history retention. While that works as expected for text messages, file attachments within the period seem to persist indefinitely. I have a few questions on this subject:

  1. Is it possible (or will it be possible) to delete chat and attachments when history retention is triggered?
  2. If #1 is not possible, is it possible to access the associated S3 buckets and manually delete attachments. For example, through an API call?

Thanks!

If you use the chat history by age option, attachments will be deleted but if you store the last 75 messages, the files will still show up in the rooms: Chat history retention settings

"You can retain chat history by age (for example, 7 days or 30 days). HipChat deletes any chat messages, files, and links older than the age you specify. For example, if you choose to store 30 days of chat history, HipChat deletes all messages, files, and links older than 30 days. The deletions happen nightly.
You can store the last 75 messages. HipChat retains your most recent 75 messages and deletes any chat messages past the 75th message. Links and files will continue to show in the Files and Links lists of rooms."
