I'm looking into creating some custom HipChat integrations, and I see you can add slash commands, but I'm wondering how you do something a little more complex than just slash commands (e.g. matching on regular expressions, etc.). Ideally I'd like to be able to make a replacement for Karma bot (where it matches a "++" or a "- -" somewhere in the string) because there are some behaviors of that bot which I think could be improved upon. But I don't see how one can do this. Any advice?
Hi @Gordon Myers, yes, most definitely: check out the API documentation here: https://developer.atlassian.com/hipchat/getting-started
You can do A LOT more than slash commands.
If all you're interested in is matching messages on regular expressions, look at this section: https://developer.atlassian.com/hipchat/guide/webhooks
