Can I archive the messages of one user in Hipchat and not archive the messages of other member of the team?

 

This is in regards to the situation of a member of a team being placed under "Legal Hold".

Legal hold isn't built into HipChat.

Using HipChat Server you can create an export with user 1:1 messages then decrypt & decompress that export file to archive the specific user's chat history. 

It's not convenient but may meet your needs.
