Can HipChat client automatically reconnect?

I'm using the Mac HipChat client. It's configured to connect to an internal company server. I can only connect when I'm signed onto a VPN. When my VPN session times out, HipChat can't connect. After I sign back into the VPN, HipChat doesn't automatically reconnect. I have to manually tell HipChat to reconnect. If I don't, my coworkers think I'm offline.

My question is: Is there a setting to make HipChat automatically reconnect, even if at fixed (hardcoded) intervals?

Bonus details about any reconnect functionality within the client would be greatly appreciated. (In other words, please be generous with details.)

Seconded. I also have this exact issue. When waking the laptop, there is about 20 seconds - 2 minutes where the VPN rediscovers. HipChat refuses to reconnect and provides no option to force reconnect. I end up restarting the app.

Not sure if "Answers" etiquette allows for +1's, but +1 the heck out of this. I come in every morning and forget to re-login, and I miss out.
