I need to setup two machines for crucible – one for the Crucible software and one for hosting the database. I haven't been able to find any information on minimum RAM and disk space requirements in order to plan for it. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Hi Brandon,
Please have a look at https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/FISHEYE/Supported+platforms, chapters "Hardware requirements" and "Disk space requirements".
I recommend to use as fast hard drives as possible - with low latency and high throughput - SSDs preferably. FishEye is a very I/O intensive application as it has to index content of your repositories, so the faster disks you have the better. Disk space required depends on content of your repositories and FishEye indexing settings (such as file size limit of files to be indexed), but it should be roughly 2x repository size.
Minimum JVM heap is 1GB, although the more memory you have the better. FishEye and Crucible have lots of various caches and try to use as much memory as possible for best performance. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/fisheye/how-fisheye-uses-memory-630588323.html article for more details. In case you decide to have more than 6GB of heap, please consider switching to the G1GC garbage collector.
Cheers
