Fisheye / Crucible user avatars in JIRA Studio.

markh_1spatial November 14, 2011

Hi,

Our JIRA Studio fisheye and crucible installation is showing autogenerated avatars for all users, which are different to those in the main jira installation. This is quite confusing since crucible shows lists of avatars in many sections of the user interface to indicate who is involved in reviews.

Is fisheye/crucible supposed to use the same avatar as jira? Or, if not, is it possible for users to modify their crucible avatars? I can't see any configuration options for this.

Sorry Mark, a bit of a mix-up here... You currently cannot modify the avatars for Fisheye/Crucible in JIRA Studio. It is a feature we are looking to add in the future and there is already a feature request open to add the functionality:

Hi Mark,

The most popular way of having universal avatars across Atlassian products is to use Gravatars: http://en.gravatar.com/

The reason for this is that can be configured across applications and platforms, whilst still providing a single universal avatar.

You could also check out the documentation for FishEye, (Studio currently runs v2.5.7), to see how to configure avatars for FishEye/Crucible, although I would still advise that you use gravatars as they are more practical and allow for greater expansion.

All the best,

John

Hi John,

Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately these options don't seem to be available in the Jira Studio system - it appears to use internal avatars by default and the jira studio administration pages don't give acces to the underlying fisheye configuration (as far as I can see).
