SPAM being attached to Atlassian issues

Abel Lineberger April 26, 2019

Has anyone else been getting bombarded by supposed updates to the issues they are following on the various product JIRA boards that are in actuality SPAM links?

Seeing a lot of PDFs being attached that are xxxx-xxxx-dumps.pdf that are in fact advertisements for various things.

What is Atlassian going to do about this?  The signal is getting lost in the noise.

This is starting to get annoying. Atlassian should probably prevent the jira-users group from uploading attachments. Another group that requires verification to be added to should be created that allows attachment creation again.

Hrm...

All members of the jira-users group in the Community must be part of an actual JIRA implementation right? So to post on the community forum related to a specific product:

  1. You must have that product installed.
  2. You must have content within the product
    1. Jira: 1 Kanban / Scrum board; one workflow; some issues created/in progress/done
    2. Confluence: 1 Space; multiple pages
    3. Portfolio: 1 Project
    4. etc.

In other words, limit posting to "real" users of the products.  This should prevent spammers from being able to post as they will not want to invest the time to create the content that normal users create simply by using the product.

Hi @Abel Lineberger / @Abel Lineberger , we are aware of this problem and evaluating the steps that we can take in order to prevent or reduce the SPAM added to JAC (jira.atlassian.com).

Thanks for the feedback!
