February is Black History Month and this year’s theme is Canadians of African Descent: Going forward, guided by the past: “Feet forward, head turned backward, the Sankofa bird reflects on the past to build a successful future.” This was inspired by the theme of the United Nations’ International Decade for People of African Descent (2015-2024).

Thanks for sharing the United States theme @Alison . I am really glad we shine a spotlight for a whole month (instead of one day) as well, and as you mentioned observing it all year round.
Here in Montgomery County, Maryland, students are engaging in a variety of instructional and celebratory activities throughout the month to learn about and honor the many contributions that African Americans have provided to society, ranging from education to science and technology to politics and religion.
That's great to hear what is happening in Maryland @Shawn Kessler - thanks for sharing!
