Coding started as a "pink-collar" job

A really interesting article about the history of coding.

When professions shift from male-dominated to female-dominated, they usually see decreases in pay and prestige. Teaching and nursing, once considered male fields, are today largely low-paying, pink-collar occupations. In the case of computer programming, this transformation ran in reverse....

“This is not a field women are newcomers to,” Abbate says. “This is a field where they have a history and belong.”

Community and social media management have also traditionally been "pink-collar" jobs, so I find these trends fascinating!

Hey @Monique vdB

I'm currently reading this book, thought you might find it interesting if you haven't seen it yet.
