Hi everyone - not sure if this is the right group or if that title is even right but I really would love to hear your opinion about something that made me think the whole weekend!
In Germany in jobs (especially in SME) HR always looks for the "Eierlegende Wollmilchsau" (translation would be: A pig giving wool, milk and also eggs - aka a multifunctional tool). This is what I call part of the super optimization that already starts in school - you have to good in everything - languages, math, sports, ....
And in my opinion I think that's not good, had a talk with a friend who did some coaching with a coach from US who said to her: "Work on things you are good at and don't use too much power on your weaknesses!" Imho this makes a lot more sense...
This is where I see another problem - grades, certifications sometimes count more than soft skills. That's what you get in my opinion when trying to optimize in everything, you get middle well in everything but not really good at something - but it's easier to make career.
Of course you always have to work on yourself, but when I want a team, I want a team of specialists and not a team of people who are middle class at everything.
