Gitlab Auto Devops add redis to deployment

I'm new to auto devops with gitlab.

I've published with success some NodeJS apps with a custom dockerfile but now I want to add a Redis cache layer to store DB query results.
I see different ways to accomplish this cache layer but no tutorial on how to integrate it with GitLab auto devops .

  • Modify values.yml or building a custom chart
  • Install Redis with dockerfile and run in application container
  • Start an external service like Redis on AWS
  • Install globally on Kubernetes

How can I handle this cache requirement?
How can I modify .gitlab/auto-deploy-values.yaml or chart to fulfill this cache layer?

Thanks
