why would one user not match via mentions in confluence

I have 10 users in a Jira/Confluence install. All ten pattern match on @mention in Jira, 9 of them work in confluence, one does not. There is no difference in permissions I can find (Jira and Confluence are sharing user integration)

That user can login to confluence and do everything. She's just unmentionable... :-) couldn't resist

Seems to be related to content indexing. Turns out I had 2 not working users, rebuilding the index fixed one of them, but not the other. Did it again and it worked for all.
