google doc as a normal link

How can I embed a link to a Google Doc as a normal link?

The doc is available to anyone with the Google link, but Confluence requires users to sign in to Google.

I just want a normal link.

Did you try just using a hyperlink in Confluence?

That worked!  I was just pasting the url as plain text, but it was converted into a Google Link. Thanks.
