credential prompts when saving an attachment downloaded from Confluence

Magali Sourbes September 30, 2013

when trying to save an office file downloaded from Confluence, users keep being prompted for login credentials to Confluence. Credentials won't work, but after 2-3 attempts or hitting cancel a few times, users are able to save. Is there a setting in Confluence that needs to be changed. We are using Office 2010, and the wiki is added to safe sites. We are on Confluence 5.2.3

Hi Magali,

Is the prompt in the Confluence UI or is it a pop up? By default, Confleunce should not require additional authentication for downloading a file. If I had to guess I would say it is office that is looking for a password. As a test, I would advise trying a non windows machine (assuming one is availble) and see if the behavior continues. Depending on the results, this will isolate the issue as being within Confluence or not and lead us to the next investigative steps.

Cheers,
Andrew
