change username in confluence export

Wouter van Bommel January 15, 2016

I want to perform a migration of 2 confluence sites between 2 different confluence installations (and user databases).

I was wondering on how to that I can 'manipulate' the xml export to get the correct (new) accounts inserted so that everything stays linked as expected.

I have the same problem. In the source space i had usernames of three letters from the first name and 5 from the last. And in the destination space i had first letter plus last name as the username. I couldnt find an easy way round so I created some internal users with the 3+5 style name and made them inactive in the destination space. That way they didnt show up as Unknown User. However, if you are importing more than a small space this is very impractical.
