I can install fine on win2012, get guided through the eval - but when i try to apply the key, the whole thing crashes and either says:
java.lang.illegalStateException: The CahecManager has been shut down. IT can no longer be used.
then a long(!) list of entries
I uninstalled and re-installed. Same issue.
I installed latest version of Java. Same issue.
Any help would be appreciated. I saw it at another company and want to convince management to invest into - so far this would be a fruitless attempt :|

Is your win2012 server R2? If not I would suggest using R2.
Also, ensure UAC and smartscreen are disabled, these can at times impact services.
Hi Michael,
Would you mind to give us more information about your instance (e.g. Confluence version, database , etc) and give us full stacktrace from your <home-directory>\logs\atlassian-confluence.log?
I installed latest version of Java. Same issue.
I would like to say, supported JDK is 1.7 in Confluenc Supported Platform. I would recommend you to check the supported platform.
Cheers,
Saleh

Hi Saleh, I will have to wait a bit - I just flattened the server and are installing R2 as per initial suggestion above (from Stephen).
If I run into the same issues again I will provide the details you asked for. Thanks for the prompt replies!
